Foot orthoses (commonly called shoe inserts or insoles) may be prescribed following an musculoskeletal and biomechanical assessment. The podiatrist will discusss your individual case and take into account your pathology, lifestyle factors and footwear before deciding which orthotic will best suit you and your budget.

Foot orthoses provide support, improve foot function and reduce stress and strain on your body. They can be pre-fabricated or custom made.

Custom-Made Foot Orthotics

Custom made orthotics are designed and manufactured specifically for your feet and pathology. A cast is taken of each foot in a semi-weight bearing neutral position. Following a series of tests and discussion with the patient the podiatrist will determine an indivdualised prescription with specific additions and alterations to resolve your pain and dysfunction. This cast impression and prescription are then sent to our irish-based manufacturing specialists for a true custom made orthotic.

Pre-fabricated Foot Orthotics

A more budget friendly option prefabricated foot orthoses are useful in many cases and come in a wide range of sizes, types and pathology specific options. Often prefabricated orthotics work extremely well for many foot and lower limb pathologies and your podiatrist can decide which will work best in your individual case.
